Marion partnered with the La Chula crew to uplift the community through art and created a space for young artists to display their artwork .
“I wanted to be part of the community and give back , there's a lot of young adults that have a lot of talent and I think that Seaport Village is an important landmark which will give artists a lot of exposure. So it's a very nice way to show everybody what all our local kids from San Diego can do, “ said Marion .
The artist behind this new project is Zeyna Acevedo, an emerging artist from Sweetwater high school , she is painting a 196” x 86” High of Sea life mural featured alongside the outside patio. “It's exciting ! kind of scary And It's fun” she said , “I've never gotten to do a project this big before I want inspire others as well to like, create something like this or even to get a job as an artist “
Avcevedo said “This is really good because it provides opportunities to people like me who want to volunteer to do something with art to be able to leave a little piece of their art somewhere in the community “.
The amazing artwork done by this talented artist is now currently finished and displayed at the restaurant.La Chula crew’s, CEO Chelsea Muñiz wanted to shine light on new emerging artists by cooperating hand by hand with Zeyna to create the mural .
“ I'm grateful that Marion gave us the opportunity to do the mural here at her restaurant, and to be able to highlight a young female artist in the community “ said Muñiz.
“To give her the chance to follow her passions and opportunity to grow as an artist, to give her the motivation and inspiration to create something for hundreds of thousands of people to appreciate as they're walking through Seaport Village, you know, it's an amazing first project opportunity for her” she said .
